Frequently asked questions about the Oslo Pass

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Oslo Pass, which offers you free entry and discounts at over 30 attractions in Oslo - including optional use of public transport.

The Oslo Pass is the official City Card of Oslo and offers you a comprehensive package: you get free admission to around 30 museums and attractions in Oslo, including the Munch Museum, Akershus Fortress and the Holmenkollen ski jump.

In addition, with the Oslo Pass you can use public transport in Oslo and the surrounding area (Ruter zones 1, 2, 3, 4V and 4N) as often as you like free of charge. You also benefit from various discounts on selected sightseeing offers, activities, restaurants and stores.

You must activate the Oslo Pass the first time you use it. With a physical card, you enter the date and time with a pen on the Oslo Pass, with the digital version you tap on "Activate" in the Oslo Pass app.

Once activated, the validity period runs continuously for 24, 48 or 72 hours - depending on the Oslo Pass variant purchased.

With the Oslo Pass, you can visit each included attraction once a day free of charge. Multiple entries to the same attraction on the same day are not possible with the Oslo Pass.

Re-entry is only possible the next day with a valid Oslo Pass.

The Oslo Pass covers all means of public transportation in the Oslo area:

  • buses
  • Streetcars
  • Subways (T-Bane)
  • Public ferries (e.g. to the islands/Bygdøy)
  • Local commuter trains from Vy within zones 1-4

The Oslo Pass also includes travel on the regional train to Oslo-Gardermoen Airport. However, the separate airport express train Flytoget or special airport buses are not included.

Yes, the Oslo Pass also functions as a local public transport ticket. You do not need a separate ticket.

The only important thing is that the Oslo Pass is activated before you start your journey. At a ticket inspection, it is sufficient to show the valid Oslo Pass.

No, the Oslo Pass does not grant preferential access ("fast track") to the attractions.

As an Oslo Pass holder, you must queue as normal and take part in the regular entry processes - the Oslo Pass does not offer preferential treatment in queues.

Yes, there are special Oslo Pass variants:

  • Oslo Pass Children: For 6-17 year olds, significantly cheaper
  • Oslo Pass Seniors: For people aged 67 and over
  • Oslo Pass student discount: 20% for young adults up to the age of 30

However, the Oslo Pass student discount is only available when purchasing a physical Oslo Pass on site (Oslo Visitor Center or Ruter Customer Center) and only on presentation of a valid student ID.

You will receive the Oslo Pass in different ways depending on how you buy it:

  • Purchase via the official Oslo Pass app: The Oslo Pass appears digitally directly in the app on your smartphone
  • Online purchase via third-party providers (e.g. Tiqets): You must exchange the voucher for the physical Oslo Pass on site at the Oslo Visitor Center (Østbanehallen at Oslo Central Station)
  • Direct purchase in Oslo: At the Oslo Visitor Centre, at the Ruter customer counter, in many hotels and museums or on board Color Line ferries

Cancellation options depend on where you buy the Oslo Pass:

  • Purchase at Tiqets: you can cancel the Oslo Pass voucher free of charge until 23:59 the day before your visit (if you choose a refundable ticket)
  • Purchase in the official Oslo Pass app: Only possible if the Oslo Pass has not yet been activated (within 14 days)
  • Purchase on site: Cancellation of the Oslo Pass is not possible

After activation, refunds are no longer possible for all Oslo Pass variants.

In the event of loss or theft, an Oslo Pass will not be replaced.

In this case, you will unfortunately have to purchase a new Oslo Pass, as neither replacement cards are issued nor costs for lost or lost Oslo Passes are reimbursed.

The Oslo Pass is personal and cannot be transferred to third parties.

It is also not permitted for a single pass to be used jointly by several people or to be "shared" alternately.
